Microsoft Postpones Surface Earbuds Until Spring Next Year
Bad news if you were seeking to gift or try shocking comfortable Surface Earbuds by Microsoft this holiday season: they will not be accessible until the spring. Chief product officer at Microsoft, Panos Panay, claimed that the firm requires a bit more time “to get all the things on track.”
Microsoft had aimed to launch the earbuds (priced at $249), which it launched previous month, this holiday season. They comprise a charging case and the firm claims they can run for a single day on a sole charge.
The device will provide Office 365 incorporation, with access to your Outlook calendar and email using voice control. In the meantime, users who provide presentations might find Surface Earbuds specifically helpful, as they can display speech and transcribe it in real time on screens, and translate what other users are saying into over 60 languages. The device will also comprise Spotify incorporation with Android touch controls.
Microsoft is pledging other functions for the device, comprising one-click pairing and tapping to enhance PPT presentations. That is a lot for the firm to get on track and it obviously feels the requirement to take additional time to make sure it does, but the postponement could mean it ends up ceding extra smart earbud share in the market to its competitors.
Apple has Powerbeats Pro and AirPods, while Google and Amazon lately declared refreshed Pixel Buds 2 and Echo Buds respectively. While Microsoft seems to have a separate target users in mind, missing out on shipping the device this holiday season will certainly come as a blow.
On a related note, streamers of Partnered Mixer now have the choice of limiting clip creation to users who have attained their channels’ minimum rank. If you are a broadcaster, you can employ this to restrict clips to normal viewers and keep out the trolls.
