ISRO Readies To Launch 30 Satellites This Month
Indian Space and Research Organization (ISRO) has announced that as part of its special mission scheduled for March 2019 it will launch a satellite called Emisat for the DRDO along with 28 private satellites and will demonstrate new technologies of three varied orbits with its new variant of PSLV said an official of the agency. Chairman of ISRO K. Sivan told that this is a special mission in which PSLV rocket will have four motors and will try to fly the rocket across three varied altitudes.
The chief payload on the PSLV is the nation’s defense intelligence satellite called Emisat that belongs to DRDO or Defense Research and Development Organization. Besides the 420 kg DRDO satellite the rocket will carry 28 other satellites belonging to its customers and the entire payload weighs around 250 kg. He announced that ISRO will be launching a couple of more defense satellites in July/August with the help of its Small Satellite Launch Vehicle. Early this year during January ISRO had launched an imaging satellite for DRDO called Microsat R. Speaking about the path of the new rocket Sivan stated that after putting Emisat into orbit at a height of 763 kilometers, the rocket will be guided down to an altitude of 504 kilometers to put the remaining 28 satellites into single orbit.
After completing these two tasks the PSLV rocket will be guided into an orbit 485 kilometers and at this level it will become a platform carrying experimental satellite payloads one of which was developed by students of Space Science and Technology, a Hamsat and a technology device created by ISRO itself. This rocket’s engine is divided into four stages that can alternate between solid and liquid fuel. The PSLV which had been launched in January had two motors while the one being launched in March will have four motors all of which are strap-on type.
